For starters, why are Hoshi and Trip on the planet? T'Pol is on Enterprise, being weather gal extraordinairre! Reed appears out of nowhere and stands by T'Pol. He shifts, looking from her to the pictures of the bad storm! No wonder! 'These discharges are more intense,' T'Pol says. hehe. Reed tech babbles and T'Pol puts her hand on the table, oh so close to him! Reedy puts his hands on his hips and leans closer to her. Yowzah! Of course, Archer sends Reed to the transporter, boo!

You've gotta laugh over Hoshi's 'Have you ever done this before?' and Trip's 'No, but The Captain has, and Malcolm's done it twice.'
Alrightly then, The rest of the episode is Hoshi's dream while she's stuck in the transporter. So I shall interpret Hoshi's interpretation of Polly and The Reedygoodness!
Reed looks good when he smiles at Hoshi <sigh!> 'Welcome to the Club!' Where do I sign up?! Until reviewing this ep, I never noticed you could hear the boys conversation before you see them in the Mess. Closed Captioning is a beatutiful thing. Reed laughs, 'So he tells her it was merely a warp imbalance.' Trip pouts, 'That's a lie, Malcolm.' Reed sounds so sincere. 'We all heard it, Commander. There's no use pretending.' Trip protests, 'But don't you think a Vulcan would see right through that one?' 'No.' Reed answers plainly. Travis giggles, 'But that's what you said though!'
Hoshi arrives, and clearly she feels all the boys swoon over T'Pol. Malcolm clears his throat and quickly wants to end the Polly talk. He is polite, even in dreams <sigh> What is Malcolm eating? Travis asks Hoshi about the transporter, but Reedy buts in, 'Travis! Let her eat her supper.' Hoshi seems to perceive Malcolm as her protector, or a caring brother. Perhaps since he has been kind to her during target practice?
Anyway. Reed stuffs his face while Hoshi talks. Hoshi says she wants to check the Transporter's guinea pig history and Malcolm laughs, 'You mean other than Syrus Ramsey?' Dream Hoshi knows Malcolm's got a sense of humor at least. Reedy shakes his head at Travis' ghost story. Goodness doesn't want his molecules to rematiralize on some dark foggy night. See, both of those things are true to character-Travis' ghost story and Malcolm's fear of the transporter. So if I say Hoshi sees R/TP, it must be true. 80)

Hoshi looks to Malcolm to dispell Trip and Travis' tricks, but Mal softens it. 'Come on Hoshi, everybody's heard of Syrus Ramsey.' They laugh and switch to their survival training stories. Hoshi must know Trip and Travis' history, but not Malcolm's, for dream Malcolm doesn't tell anything about his training history. Reed chews and nods while they discuss bugs. Dream Hoshi got that from her and Malcolm's teasing of Trip in Rogue Planet. Is this what they refer to as continuity? 80) Trip and Travis are so slash this episode! The boys leave Hoshi, giggling, and she pouts. I would, too.
Now, if Malcolm details seem a mystery to Hoshi, then T'Pol is non-existant. She sits at the science station during Hoshi's dream crisis. T'Pol talks about the ruins on the planet, and Hoshi frowns, 'How could you possibly know that?' T'Pol knows all! (Actually, I think there are hints to it all being a dream, T'Pol knowing, and Trip's communicator not beeping.) At least, Hoshi thinks T'Pol is a know it all. 80) Reed is concerned about the Trip and Travis fake hostage, naturally Hoshi sees him as Mr. Security. And you know, maybe Hoshi thinks the boys are slashy, too?
Reed shifts at the fake alien talk. 'What's the problem?' dream bitch T'Pol demands of Hoshi. Malcolm cuts in 'Maybe you should forget about the UT. Just try and talk to them.' Okay.... In Hoshi's real life, T'Pol has actually said 'Just talk to them Hoshi.' In Flight or Fight I think. Malcolm is usually the one that shifts during alien democracy, even contesting Hoshi's skills in Vox Sola. I'm confused. Is this just another hint its a dream since its backwards?

Anyway, Archer takes Malcolm into his ready room to deal with the fake hostage, but wouldn't Archer take T'Pol as well? Another hint, I think. A very slashy hint. ;o) Hoshi tries with T'Pol again in the Mess, but OFV (Our Favorite Vulcan) is too busy reading a book and sipping tea. T'Pol informs Hoshi rather snootyly. She reports the information than walks away. I guess Hoshi perceives T'Pol as walking sex and information?
Aha! Hoshi hear the Real Reed <growl> 'You can do it, Ensign!' Is that why dream Reed seems so comforting to Hoshi? His trying to save her is manifesting itself in the dream? I feel like Freud. But alias, Hoshi 'disappears' and T'Pol seems unaffected by it. Hoshi thinks T'Pol doesn't care about her, which I think has been clearly shown she does. Everything that is screwy is a dream hint, I say!
I'm not really into Tucker/Sato, but this ep does have some moments for them. See, I can be fair, maybe. T'Pol says she was 'quite aware' of Hoshi's anxiety in using the transporter. Again real life T'Pol never seemed this mean. And notice Hoshi doesn't see dream Reed after she hears his real voice?
At least Hoshi thinks Archer is stupid, too. T'Pol and Phlox have to explain everything to him. (Phlox is the only person who seems accurately portrayed in Hoshi's dream, so I guess she is closest to him.) Hoshi does hear Malcolm again, and this time she calls out, 'Lieutenant?' Hoshi seems to be quiet aware of Malcolm's distance, as an officer and a person, not that that makes him less considerate of her, unlike T'Pol it would seem.

T'Pol doesn't know morse code! hehe. Hoshi sees her as humanly ignorant and oblivious, and Archer, well, as an idiot. Okay, hostiles and bombs run a muck and Hoshi doesn't think Reed? His voice then subsequent disappearance is a major hint. Don't feel bad, I could tell things were wacky but I didn't know what for.
Real Reed returns on 'three'. I love the way he talks. All that and real Trip says 'Nice work, Malcolm.' Actually, yeah, all Hoshi did was a dream. Once again, a whole episode that would have gone no where without Malcolm! 80) Hoshi races away, saying they have to stop them. Now Trip is Mr. Comfort. Southern Comfort. >80)
Trip explains Hoshi was caught in the buffer for a few seconds. '8.3 seconds, to be percise,' Malcolm corrects. hehe. Hoshi asks for a mirror, surprised the boys can see her vanished self. Reed smiles, 'What?' Hoshi blabs about Syrus Ramsey and Trip and Reed look at each other. Wtf?
Yeah yeah, we get Archer telling, again, 'Malcolm's recommending some new transport protocals to Starfleet. He is suggesting we start compressing the transport beam.' Is there nothing he can't do?!
